Smart grid construction is accelerating, improving power system reliability

Smart grid construction is accelerating, improving power system reliability

With the development of digital technology, the construction of smart grids in China is accelerating across the board. Power companies in many regions are actively deploying smart meters, sensors, and communication networks to build an intelligent management system covering all aspects of power generation, transmission, distribution, and consumption. By real-time monitoring of grid operation status, the smart grid can quickly locate faults and automatically isolate them, shortening power outage times by over 70%. In addition, it can achieve precise allocation of power resources and optimize the user's power consumption experience. It is expected that by the end of 2025, the coverage rate of smart grids in major cities nationwide will exceed 90%.

Electrical enterprises collaborate with universities to jointly research new energy storage technology

Electrical enterprises collaborate with universities to jointly research new energy storage technology

To address the intermittency of renewable energy, multiple electrical enterprises and universities have engaged in deep cooperation to jointly develop new energy storage technologies. Both parties will focus on areas such as lithium-ion batteries, flow batteries, and hydrogen storage, and through industry-academia-research collaboration, overcome challenges such as low energy density, high cost, and short lifespan of energy storage systems. Currently, some projects have achieved phased results, with the energy density of new energy storage materials increasing by 40% compared to traditional materials. Once these technological achievements are industrialized, they will effectively enhance the power system's peak-shaving capability and promote the consumption of clean energy.

Ultra-high voltage transmission technology achieved a major breakthrough, facilitating cross-regional energy allocation.

Ultra-high voltage transmission technology achieved a major breakthrough, facilitating cross-regional energy allocation.

Recently, China's scientific research team has made a major breakthrough in the field of ultra-high voltage power transmission technology. The new ultra-high voltage DC transmission system adopts independently developed intelligent control technology and insulation materials, increasing transmission capacity by 20% and reducing line loss by 15%. This technology can not only more efficiently realize "west-to-east power transmission" but also reduce reliance on traditional fossil energy and promote the cross-regional consumption of clean energy, which is of great significance for building a new type of power system. Currently, the related technology has entered the pilot application stage and is expected to be promoted in multiple key projects nationwide in the future.
